Research on aluminum agglomeration characteristics of Al/NEPE propellant

Abstract Adding aluminum particles to solid propellants is used improve the energy density of propellant and specific impulse engine. However, will agglomerate form large-sized condensed combustion products, which can cause nozzle erosion two-phase flow loss. Therefore, it necessary study agglomeration characteristics propellants. In this paper, process Al/NEPE was recorded by a high speed camera fiber optic spectrometer, products were collected. The microstructure analyzed scanning electron microscope coupled with dispersive (SEM-EDS). These results show that may go through three stages: accumulation, aggregation agglomeration. are mainly divided into agglomerates smoke oxide particles. Generally, size exceeds 50 μm, while less than 1 μm.
